Say no to new taxes in 2022

Every year your property taxes go up automatically

Every year your Washoe gas tax goes up automatically

- Been to Fernley or Carson lately where gas is

40 cents cheaper a gallon?

In 2022 you’ll have at least two new endless tax measures on your ballot that will devastate the hard hit gaming and business community.

S-1 will raise our sales tax to nearly 10%.*

S-2 will raise the tax on struggling casinos  as they try to recover from the Covid recession.

Remember you pay taxes and taxes on others get passed to you.

*Both measures are statewide but Washoe County would raise to just under 10% sales tax.

The legislature just raised taxes for Education in 2020 and previously the marijuana tax. School enrollment in Washoe has fallen, requiring less taxes.

Any future tax, if any, must follow simple guidelines that these do not: they must end (sunset) and they must be for a specific dedicated purpose.

Vote NO on both S-1 and S-2 and tell your friends and family.

*As we write this; the government is trying to take this off the ballot. We are opposed to the taxes but that the government would violate the will of those that signed and filed the petition lawfully is an attack on Democracy. If they could do it now, no future ballot measure would be safe. So there is a chance these may not appear on the ballot.
